NEW MUSIC

“We Didn’t Know it was You” (The Song of the Goats)
(Tom Rasely, 2011)
Composed for the 11/20/11 worship service.

When I was sick and down and out
You never stopped by to care.
When I was in prison, you stayed away
You treated me as if I wasn’t there.

(And we said)
Hey, we didn’t know it was you
We didn’t know it was you.
If we’d have known we’d have acted differently
But hey, we didn’t know it was you.

When I was hungry you didn’t feed me.
You didn’t even try to teach me how to fish.
When I was naked you didn’t give me your coat:
Not a hat, not a sock, not a stitch.

(And we said it again)
Hey, we didn’t know it was you. (etc.)

(Bridge)
Whatever you do for the least of these
To the littlest ones in God’s family
Whatever you give that is truly free,
You do it unto me.

(and all we could say was)
Hey, we didn’t know it was you. (etc.)

(Repeat chorus and last line)

It All Comes Down to This
©2012 by Rasely/Connolly

[Verse]Talking ‘bout your doctrines,
Talk about your creed;
Talking ‘bout everything but what you need.
Talking ‘bout your dogma,
Talk of being blessed;
But it all comes down to this:

[Chorus] Love neighbor, love God
There’s nothing very tricky, and nothing very hard;
Love neighbor, love God
And you’ll be living in covenant with God today.

[Verse] Talking ‘bout your prayers,
Talk about belief;
Talking ‘bout your canon gives you no relief.
Talking ‘bout your policies,
Talk about your prayers;
But it all comes down to this: [Chorus repeat]

[Bridge]A relationship with God
Means letting Jesus in your heart.
And through the power of the Holy Spirit
We can give our lives a brand new start. [Chorus repeat]
