The Norwich United Church of Christ, First Congregational was organized in 1814 by settlers from New England, and identifies with the Pilgrims and Puritans of colonial New England, the founders of the Congregational tradition in America. The meeting house we now have was built in 1862, and the building was expanded to its present size in 1874.
The national organization known as the United Church of Christ (UCC) was gathered in 1957. Through the UCC, our congregation is united with people of churches in the German Reformed, Evangelical Lutheran, and Christian traditions. In the Congregational manner each church in the UCC maintains its autonomy and seeks to be in community with Christians of good will everywhere.
